Since 1996 MalleusIncus – Johan Bridger and Patrick Raab – has been performing hundreds of recitals through out Europe, USA and Japan. In 2015/2016 MalleusIncus premieres Tobias Broströms Double Concerto for Two percussionists and Orchestra, together with Dresdner Philharmonie, NorrlandsOperan Umeå and the Symphony Orchestras in Helsingborg, Gävle.
MalleusIncus repertoire varies from transcriptions by Bach, Mendelssohn, Liszt, Shostakovitj to new commissions from todays composers such as Tobias Broström and Alejandro Vinao. Although the ensemble performs music containing huge setups with drums, metal and wood instruments, their main focus has been exploring the possibillities with different mallet instruments such as marimba and vibraphone. In 2004 MalleusIncus won 1st Prize in the International Marimba Duo Competition in Belgium and later that year they performed at Percussive Arts Society of International Convention in Nashville, USA.
Johan Bridger has performed at major venues, such as La Biennale di Venezia, Mariinsky Theatre and Carnegie Hall and collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists. He has also made several appearances as a soloist on Swedish Radio’s classical music station and on Swedish Television.
In addition to his own ceaseless exploration of the marimba and the overall percussionist’s world, Bridger seeks to inspire others by giving both lectures and master classes, in Sweden and abroad. He also teaches at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, The Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Odense, The Malmö Academy of Music and Sundsgården School of Music
Patrick Raab is solo percussionist at the Royal Operahouse in Copenhagen and timpanist with Concerto Copenhagen. He has attended at several tv and radio broadcasts and appears on many cd and dvd´s, such as the complete cycle of the Ring of the Niebelung from the Royal Operahouse, Copenhagen. Raab is a sought after musician in the Scandinavian Orchestras, both as percussionist and timpanist.
